« A Fun Filled Day at Wilklow Orchards »

Wilklow Orchards had its' annual Harvest Festival on October 16th, and we were there for a fun filled day -- replete with an orchard tour, hay ride, and apple picking. Here is a snap shot of our day.

Our day started off with a tour of the orchard with members of the Tribeca CSA and Fred Wilklow. Fred is a 5th generation farmer, who runs the orchard with his wife and children. The farm is approximately 100 acres and produces amazing stone fruit, berries, concord grapes, pears, apples and heirloom tomatoes (among other things).

The orchard supplies fruit and heirloom tomatoes to multiple CSAs and Green Markets in NYC -- including the Borough Hall, Fort Greene and Grand Army Plaza Green Markets in Brooklyn and the SI Ferry Terminal Green Market in Manhattan.

Apples, pumpkins, Dilly Dumpling and hay rides!

Homemade pies, apple cider doughnuts, playful goats and friendly piggies.

Entrance to the 20 acre "pick your own" apple orchard.

A stream runs through it.......

Beauty and tranquility everywhere you look.

The daily rhythm of farm life.

And of course, apples, apples, apples!
